Bikram Choudhury is the creator of the yoga workouts known as bikram yoga postures or more commonly referred to as hot yoga. The reason that this yoga is called hot yoga is because it is designed to be practiced in a structured and specific environment, most noticeably one that occurs in 105 degree temperatures with humidity as high as 40%.
The form of bikram yoga postures is amazing because it emphasizes all of the regular benefits that are usually associated with yoga (both physically and mentally), but it also helps to create additional benefits within the body as a result of the environment that the training takes place in.
The original masters and developers of yoga sought out new ways to exercise and enhance the body and its muscles. Likewise, the bikrim yoga postures were created as if they were the next step of exercising the total body. By being able to complete moves in such extreme heat and by enduring the difficult breathing conditions, the practitioners of bikrim yoga postures are able to enhance their lungs and breathing capacity as well as their muscles.
Many even claim that by posing and posing in the extreme climate, they are able to feel the detox effects of the environment.
The nature of the intensity means that the workouts aren’t necessarily recommended for beginners, although with supervision anyone can try them. Part of the ideology behind the bikrim yoga postures is that the individual will either stretch or compress a certain muscle which will temporarily cut off circulation to that body part.
By then letting go of the pose and returning to a relaxed form, the body will pump fresh blood to the area which then allows the user to have increased oxygen levels within their body as well. Not all individuals practice this style of yoga, and those that do don’t always do so just for the benefits of breathing and free bloodflow.
But, for the individuals who practice the bikram yoga postures, they have nothing but good things to say about the methodology and the results.
